Grammar Police!

I was going to post this on Facebook but I then decided not to because I would likely offend more than the 3 people who read this blog.

So, I'm going to say this once and then I'm never going to say this again:  The words "your" and "you're" are different words.  Entirely different.  They have different meanings.  They are not interchangeable.  The fact that people my age, people who are educated, people who are otherwise pretty smart, use those two words like they're one, make me fucking weep.

And every time someone writes, "Your going to have to call me" on BBM or Facebook or in an email, and every time I so desperately want to correct them but I don't because it would make me a pretentious bitch, a little part of me dies inside.

And I'm not saying I have the best grasp of grammar because, if you read this blog regularly, it's clear that I don't and I KNOW that if my futile attempt at punctuation was a sound it would be finger nails on a chalkboard and, yes, I know we all make mistakes and sometimes I do write "your" when I mean "you're" but seriously, there are seriously people, people who have graduated from college or university, people who have jobs and read and know many many things, who actually believe that they are the same word.

THEY ARE NOT.

And I can't stand it anymore.  I can't.  This is basic, basic grammar.  If you made it past grade 8 you should know that these two words are different.  For the love of god, you should know.

Don't even get me started on "their", "they're", and "there".

And I lied, I'm never going to let this go.

And I'm totally posting it on Facebook.

Facebook, actually all websites, should have a red pen correction option. I would lose hours editing the your/you're their/there/they're errors.

A new one for me (actual facebook wall message):
"I hope use are having a nice trip."

use=yous=OMG I wanna stab somebody!

Hallelujah! I freaking HATE it. And the do it without shame. I want to correct it all the time, but don't do it b/c I don't want to be a bitch. But I WANT TO.

I also hate "alot"...if "alittle" isn't a real word then neither is "alot". I hate that a lot.

THANK YOU FOR CARING ABOUT GRAMMAR!!!

My biggest annoyances are 'to' and 'too' (honestly people...is it REALLY that HARD???)

Even worse...the use of the word 'seen' instead of 'saw'...MAKES ME WANT TO STAB MYSELF IN THE EYE...with something blunt...

Another one:
"I can't even phantom doing something like that"

I wish I could say these are people for whom English is a second language, but alas, I cannot.
