We're five bad brothers from the bean town land!

Remember that time when I went on and on about how I was going to go to the New Kids on the Block concert and mock them until I was so exhausted I could mock no more? Remember that? Well, bloggy friends, brace yourself: I WAS WRONG. Wrong! And if I had to pick a time to be more wrong, this would be the time I would pick. What? That sentence doesn't make sense? Yes I know. But that's how I roll.

When I was in grade nine, many many years ago, I hung out with three other girls. If we were in grade nine today we would be considered BFF's, but we're not so we'll just have to continue using full words.

We were big fans of The New Kids on the Block. This was even before they mistakenly tried to make a comeback as the "bad assed, non-gay" NKOTB. This is when they were known to us only as The New Kids. We had all the shirts, trading cards, posters, slippers, videos, and cassette tapes. I actually didn't have a lot of that stuff but I wanted to have it so it's basically the same thing.

When we found out that the New Kids were coming to our city we were so excited we almost peed our acid wash jeans. So, we decked ourselves out in our slouch socks and matching hair scrunchies and decided to spend the night outside waiting in line for tickets. We were fifth in line so we got to take our pick. It was a very exciting time.

Then, as friends tend to do, we got into a big fight. This fight however, was quite severe. In an unusual turn of events, rather then the usual two against two, it was three against one. I was the one. I didn't go to the concert.

Fast forward 20 years later. Three out of the four of us still keep in touch. We even go as far as to alert each other to the occasional New Kids sighting on TV. Until recently, these sightings were very rare and often unintentionally humorous.

Then one day I got a call from one of the girls saying that she just happened to have an extra ticket to the show in Calgary and would I like to go because she still feels bad that I didn't get to go in grade nine? Hell yeah I would like to go, I said. And I did. And it was awesome.

They put on such a great show. They sang all their old songs and even did their old dance moves. They're not the best dancers ever but they're actually pretty talented singing-wise. Except for John and Danny. I'm pretty sure their microphones were off the entire time. John just mostly looked like he was going to pee himself.

I would have to say I imagine this concert, experienced by my 33 year old self, would have been pretty much what I would have experienced when I was 15(minus the parking lot full of mini-vans). I screamed, I danced, I sang, I waved my arm. I even teared up at a couple of points. I had no idea I would enjoy it this much and I am so happy I went.

I guess good things are worth waiting for.

I went to the Vancouver show, also having been a huge fan 15 years ago. I also didn't expect much, but was amazed and had a really great time. So much so that I might even see them again if they do another tour.

I would for sure see them again if they did another tour. I don't think it would be as awesome as the first experience, but it would still be fun!
