Well. I'm glad that's over.

Don't you hate when you sign on to a blog and there is a new post and you're really excited because you know you're probably going to lose your shit laughing because it's such an awesome blog and you're wondering to yourself what kind of crazy crap is going to be dropped on a household pet this time but then you actually read the post and it's so depressing it sort of makes you want to stab yourself in the eye?

Yeah, sorry about that.

I haven't been in a mood like that for a long time. And even when a mood like that does hit me I normally don't post because who wants to read that? No one. And the funny thing is, I knew I had a job interview on Monday and that's a huge great thing because I haven't had an interview since I got here and that still couldn't pull me out of the depths of despair....sigh.....

Anyways, I'm out.

AND!

I got the job!!

In theory.

What? Yes. The interview was for a personal trainer position at my gym. I believe I have mentioned before that this is something that I've always wanted to do. Basically, what they normally do with people with absolutely no experience, is hire them for a low paid, entry level position. For three months they sort of learn on the job and in that three months they need to get their Personal Trainer Certification which is a four day course and an exam. Then they have to pass a second "practical" interview with the head trainer at the gym. Then, for another three months, they build up experience to become a "master" personal trainer and they get paid a lot more. What they want me to do is skip the first three months, take the course, pass the practical interview and just jump right in as a master trainer. Because I want to do this as a career. And because I'm awesome.

So, all I need to do is to force my way into an already full course which starts on Friday and then, after I finish that, they're going to bring me back for the practical interview even before I take my exam BECAUSE I'M THAT AWESOME and then I can get started. I find out tonight if I get into the course. I told him I would do "anything" and then I did a little "wink wink" into the phone. I think he got the gist.

So, basically, I'm on my way to working at my dream job. Seriously. How many people can say that?

Excellent! Congratulations!

Also, I believe having your First Aid / CPR makes you valuable as trainer. Not sure if it's changed from back in my day when it was required for fitness professionals. Actually, maybe at any given gym there just has to be one trained person on the floor.

Still, could get you more $$$ & negotiating power down the line?
